The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris
If you have ever been interested in reading about 19th-century Paris, and you wanted to feel like it was literally coming alive right in front of your eyes, then I highly recommend you check out David McCullough’s The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris. As I am sure you probably already know, David is an amazing writer and he can really take whatever topic he happens to be interested in at the time and turn it into something that is extremely understandable and transformative for all of those who read it.
And the topic of Americans living in Paris during the 19th century is certainly no different. People often say that they literally feel like they’ve been enlightened after they have read about any topic that David McCullough has written. His works are truly that powerful and they will really leave that much of a lasting impression upon you. And this book is no different, as it will leave the same kind of impact beyond a shadow of a doubt.
A lot of people in America don’t even realize that there are so many other Americans that spend a good portion of their lives living abroad. So it’s definitely a very interesting read if you happen to find this topic appealing to you. This book gets my strongest endorsement and you will unquestionably not be disappointed if you pick this up today.

Lost in Shangri-La: A True Story of Survival, Adventure, and the Most Incredible Rescue Mission of World War II
The main thing you ought to know about Lost In Shangri-La is that it is actually a true story. There are a lot of people out there that don’t really realize this fact because Mitchell Zuckoff tells this tale so well that you become so engrossed inside of the story that you really think you are reading a novel. But that’s also part of the beauty of this story since you are pulled into this tale right away and it makes you feel like you are taking part in the action.
The way this story opens up is that a sightseeing tour that is in a plane actually crashes into a mountain, and there are only a few survivors left from the crash that try and find their way out of this extremely dense and out-of-the-way rainforest and jungle area. As you can imagine, this was a tremendously perilous journey and there was a lot of triumph and tragedy along the way. If you like this kind of a rescue story then I’d definitely recommend you pick this up today because it’s certainly right up your alley. I won’t go into any more detail because I don’t want to ruin the story for you.
But please be aware that this is an amazing, true story and I give it a perfect five out of five stars.
